User:Hooligan

From Chester Wiki

I have lived in Hoole for over twenty years, so "Hooligan" seemed an apt user-name to take, given the origins of the word, and the fact that my own family name was a byword for badness in Ireland (we were excommunicated in perpetuity in the 14th century as here).

I bought my first house in Hoole and I have no plans to move out of Chester. I have lived in Chester longer than I have lived in any other place, so while I'm not a native Cestrian, I do consider it my home.

My pages tend to be historical (my ancestors came over with William and one of them is reputed to have put an arrow in Harold's eye), I translate Anglo-Saxon and Latin badly, and I have nothing against the Welsh, the Irish or the Scots, despite mentioning unfortunate things that happened to most of them in Chester. I also write about train-wrecks, graveyards, the Great Tower of Hoole, battles and other somewhat ghoulish themes. I also like to weave geology into the stuff I write.

I like wiki because you can dip in and make all sorts of interesting connections then see what the vox pop thinks. Perhaps it might even prove there is some truth in The Wisdom of Crowds. I love Chester because you can walk around a corner and find something new and interesting every day.

I am happy to be edited by people who know more about a subject than I.

My favourite web site has got to be the unbeatable "Virtual Stroll", but that is 'Knowhow's' site and this is yours to play with as you will.
