[edit] Blurb
There are a number of other options in town when it comes to eating Chinese, but for class and quality, the Shanghai is unmatched. No bog-standard, all-in buffet menus here, this is top-notch food in a restaurant that has no serious rivals to date.
[edit] Where
At the business end of Hoole Road (ie, between the rail bridge and Faulkner Street).
[edit] Atmosphere
You won't see any flock wallpaper here - the décor is chic and minimalist. Service is calm, discreet and relaxed, even when the Shanghai is busy, which is most nights.
[edit] Prices
Steepish. No serious rivals, as we said, so bring your plastic or a full wallet. Dinner for two, with drinks, will cost at least £60.
[edit] Food
Undoubtedly the best Chinese food in Chester, but it's not cheap. The Shanghai offers a very extensive menu. We recommend the Lemon Chicken, their signature dish, although the set banquets are very good value for money and will supply you with the best of the menu options if you're not brave (or rich) enough to go a la carte...
[edit] Conclusion
Well worth saving your pennies for a special night out.
