Northgate outcrop
From Chester Wiki
The north side of Delamere Street just outside the Northgate is built on an outcrop of sandstone similar to the outcrop in Edgars Field in Handbridge. Recent demolition of the buildings on Delamere Street has exposed the base of the small hill. It appears that in the past the outcrop was cut away to ground level to provide a foundation for the buildings on top. The peak of the outcrop was below the old chapel on the corner next to the fountains round-a-bout.
You can see a still rise in the road to the south of the fountains around-a-bout.
