Mutlow
From Chester Wiki
Mutlow's map of 1785 shows how at the time, while the canal had been dug, much of the space within the city walls was open ground. Notable differences from the modern day are:
- the canal runs directly down to the River Dee rather than taking a detour towards the boat-yard.
- there are extensive harbour buildings around New Crane Street
- there is only one bridge across the River Dee
- while the Amphitheatre has yet to be discovered, the road from the city gate to St Johns still follows the curve around it.
