Kill the Slug

The Glass Slug has probably been the most unpopular planning proposal in Chester in recent times. The vast majority of Cestrians are opposed to it being built.

In the first half of 2007, Chester Conservative Party ran a highly political campaign to stop it going ahead. Their online petition collected around 3,000 signatures, as of end March 2007.

The Tory campaign hinged on the results of the local elections on 3 May 2007. They won control of Chester City Council, and promised to cancel the plans by the deadline of 31 May 2007.

There is a special meeting of the Council on the 30th May to debate and kill the Slug proposals.
