Frodsham Street
From Chester Wiki
Frodsham Street is one of the main shopping streets in Chester and runs between Cow Lane Bridge at Gorse Stacks (by the canal) and Eastgate Street, where you emerge by the famous Eastgate Clock.
Scruffy and downmarket, Frodsham Street has been sorely neglected in recent years and is now home to a depressing 1970s shopping centre (mainly renowned for Tesco), pound shops, charity shops and other cheap shopping outlets.
As Tesco recently announced that it would be opening a larger store at Sealand Road, just out of town, the local rumour mill is rife with speculation as to whether the Frodsham Street outlet will close. If it does, the rest of the Frodsham Street shops could be severely affected, as many of them rely on passing trade from customers visiting Tesco.
