Cross foxes are a variant type of the common "red" fox (Vulpes Vulpes). Other well-known colour variants are the silver fox and black fox. A litter of kits can encompas all the variants. The cross fox gets its name from the cross on its back. There is a black stripe that goes from the top of the head to the tail and a second stripe that runs across the shoulders forming a cross. There is an irrelevant introduction to a very nice pub on the fringes of the city centre. The other possible origin of the name "Crossed Foxes" refers to the rather unfortunate entanglement that mating foxes may find themselves "tied" with.
