The Chester Standard is a weekly newspaper, published every Wednesday, and delivered free to residential homes within Chester. Non-residents can purchase it for 40p from some city centre newsagents. It is a sister publication to the daily, paid-for Chester Evening Leader, published by North Wales Newspapers.

Originally intended to be a weekly rival to the paid-for Chester Chronicle, the Standard is these days a poor copy of the latter. However, for those unwilling to pay for local news, it does a passable job of reporting the main stories every week, and it has a good classifieds section. An online version can be read here.
