[edit] Development

Liberty Properties' flagship development, christened HQ, is set to become one of Chester's higher profile mixed-used developments. Chester HQ has not been built yet; however, the site (which used to house the headquarters for Chester police) has been cleared in readiness for construction, which is expected to start sometime in June 2007.

Located in a prime city centre location overlooking the famous Roodee Racecourse and River Dee, and within the historic city Walls, "HQ will be one of the most impressive commercial and residential sites created outside London in recent years", according to the developers.

Liberty Properties plc has a current development programme valued in excess of £100 million, and has considerable experience of developing within Chester, having already developed over 150,000 sq ft of commercial accommodation and 50,000 sq ft of retail floor space in the city, including developments in the Chester Business Park.

The 250,000 sq. ft mixed-use scheme will accommodate:

  • 35 residential apartments and penthouses with views across Chester Racecourse;
  • incorporate highly specified office space;
  • a luxury four-star hotel, to be operated by Abode Hotels;
  • and two additional restaurants.

[edit] Location

Chester HQ will be situated in 3 acres of landscaped grounds on the site previously occupied by the Cheshire Constabulary headquarters. Liberty Properties's HQ development will create a gateway building to the city centre while entering via the Grosvenor Bridge.

Its strategic views are intended not only to provide views across Chester's famous Roodee racecourse and beyond to the Welsh hills, but across the historic landscape of Chester as well.
