[edit] General info
The Chester Food and Drink Festival takes place every year. It runs for around 10 days, with the main events usually taking place over the Easter Weekend. Restaurants run special offers, there are various events and there's also the Taste Marquee where you can try and buy.
[edit] Where
Various places around Chester city centre. Some activities, such as special deals at participating restaurants, happen outside the main centre area.
[edit] Events
Cheese rolling competition, Taste Marquee, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, junior chef competition
[edit] Taste Marquee
In 2008, the Taste Marquee moved to a new regular home at the Racecourse. It's packed full of stands, with local food producers selling their wares. You can sample lots of different foods or watch one of the celebrity cooking demonstrations. The Taste Marquee is the highlight of the festival and the place to find unusual things such as goat sausages.
[edit] Food
Well, yes food! And drink! That's what it's all about. The festival aims to celebrate and promote Chester and Cheshire's restaurants, pubs and food producers.
[edit] Notes
The biggest problem the festival has is that the website never gets updated until a few weeks before events kick off. You're more likely to find out what's happening by buying the Chester Chronicle before then. Don't be put off though - once you manage to find out what's on where, you'll be spoiled for choice if you're a gastronome.
