The Conservative Party in Chester is in overall control of both Chester City Council and Cheshire County Council.
Chester Conservatives became the majority party on Chester City Council on 3 May 2007, for the first time since 1986.
The City Council Conservative Group consists of 33 of the 60 members on Chester City Council and is led by Cllr Margaret Parker (Mickle Trafford ward) with Cllr Stephen Mosley (Handbridge & St Mary's) as Deputy Leader.
Chester Conservatives also hold 4 of the 9 Chester Cheshire County Council seats. The four Conservative county councillors John Burke (Gowy), Eveleigh Moore-Dutton (Broxton), Stephen Mosley (Overleigh) and David Rowlands (Mickle Trafford) form part of the majority Conservative & Unionist group on Cheshire County Council, holding 26 of the 51 seats.
