Bricklands is one of the very few fishmongers in Chester. This is a family-run business that was once based in Pepper Street, then closed its retail operation to supply restaurants. Its reappearance as a retail outlet is very welcome and opening in Hoole was a good decision, as Faulkner Street has gained a justifiable reputation for its food shops. There is a huge choice of fish - tuna steaks, red mullet, undyed smoked haddock - and shellfish such as uncooked crevettes and clams. Bricklands also sells game and the friendly fishmonger will skin and fillet your fish for you.
